Staring Straight at the Sun
Staring Straight at the Sun is a set of pop vocal songs I’ve been working on for a little over three years. Originally slated for a summer 2023 release, this project consumed my life, and I’m glad it did. I promised myself I wouldn’t release this album until I was the one singing on it: no copping out by releasing instrumentals or entirely depending on featured vocalists.
In making this project, I’ve learned a lot about lyrical songwriting and producing with vocals. I’ve been paying more attention to restraint and focus in my sound design. Staring Straight at the Sun constitutes my sincere attempt at making pop music; I’m excited to do it all over again.

OBSESSED✧✦✧✦
I released an obscene number of remixes during 2023 and 2024. I am heavily influenced by the online plunderphonic and hyperflip scenes. High-energy electronic music has always been my escape. OBSESSED✧✦✧✦ is a snapshot of my life two years ago that indulges in the connection between sample-based dance music and feelings of despair and addiction. As I pieced it together, it dawned on me that this is the kind of music I needed to make. I hope the music does its job of communicating that exact set of feelings, and I also don’t really care if it doesn’t. First person to identify all 100 samples on this album gets $20.

Absolute Zero
Taking this out of the 2021 archives!
This was a companion album to Exosphere, my first exploration of ambient-adjacent music. In Absolute Zero, I wanted to tap back into those sparse soundscapes from Exosphere, while still being distinctly electronica. Over the summer of 2021, when Absolute Zero was done and its scheduled September release was right around the corner, I learned a lot more about production, collaborated a lot more with my close friends, and fell out of love with Absolute Zero. By September, all I wanted to do was focus on f(x) so I could finish that by December. In some sense, I don’t “stand by” the music from Absolute Zero anymore. Had I made this in the current year, I wouldn’t have released it. But this music holds a special place in my heart!
My good friend Nadia is the only person who’s been aware of Absolute Zero, I think. I sent it to her long before the planned 2021 release because she liked using Exosphere in video essays. She also later commissioned a rendition of Schubert’s “Ave Maria”, which became track 13, “Varda”.
Mint Gum
Mint Gum is a mix of songs I’ve been working on over the past two years that don’t really have a home on any of the more conceptual albums I’ve been working on. I’m naturally hesitant to share details (I like to be surprising!) but, during 2023, I really got in my own head about releasing music altogether. I kept looking back at past albums with fascination and admiration, as if someone else entirely had put them together. I spent the entire year working on and obsessing over my next album album, wanting so badly to make the best set of songs imaginable. Of course, that obsession and self-imposed pressure can be both helpful and unhelpful.
Those songs are probably still on their way, but as I bide my time, I put together this lighthearted collection of songs that have been loitering on my hard drive for too long! Some of them are outtakes from that 2023 album (“unicorn”, “ok girl !”, “Endless V”, “bitter taste”, and “Handsome”), a few were tossed around as collaborations between Rey and I before we chose “ROSALIE” (“Andromeda Galaxy”, “Hydrogen”, and “Bézier Curve”), and the rest are songs made for specific events, and album concepts that went nowhere. And “winter nights : sweet dreams” was the first song I made for somewhere in the milky way! Wow!

somewhere in the milky way
somewhere in the milky way is an album inspired by the soundtracks of some of my favorite games (namely Animal Crossing: City Folk and Minecraft). Each song is thematically written around an hour of the day, starting at 6 a.m. The album is divided into four discs: the morning disc, the afternoon disc, the evening disc, and the night disc. Altogether two hours of chill vibes. A digital download will also include alternate “snowdrift” versions of each song for wintertime listening.
