Mint Gum

Mint Gum is a mix of songs I’ve been working on over the past two years that don’t really have a home on any of the more conceptual albums I’ve been working on. I’m naturally hesitant to share details (I like to be surprising!) but, during 2023, I really got in my own head about releasing music altogether. I kept looking back at past albums with fascination and admiration, as if someone else entirely had put them together. I spent the entire year working on and obsessing over my next album album, wanting so badly to make the best set of songs imaginable. Of course, that obsession and self-imposed pressure can be both helpful and unhelpful.

Those songs are probably still on their way, but as I bide my time, I put together this lighthearted collection of songs that have been loitering on my hard drive for too long! Some of them are outtakes from that 2023 album (“unicorn”, “ok girl !”, “Endless V”, “bitter taste”, and “Handsome”), a few were tossed around as collaborations between Rey and I before we chose “ROSALIE” (“Andromeda Galaxy”, “Hydrogen”, and “Bézier Curve”), and the rest are songs made for specific events, and album concepts that went nowhere. And “winter nights : sweet dreams” was the first song I made for somewhere in the milky way! Wow!
